Job Description
The MIECHV (Maternal Infant Early Childhood Home Visitation) Program is a voluntary in-home visitation program for parents of children prenatal to age 5. MIECHV provides support to families in the areas of child development, parent-child relationships, and safety in Wapello and Appanoose Counties. The MIECHV Family Support Worker is responsible for initiating and maintaining regular, possibly long-term, (up to five years) contact/support with families. Enrollment duration is at the complete discretion of the families themselves. These visits occur primarily within the family’s home. The program utilizes a Healthy Families America model and curriculum that is trauma-informed, family-centered and strength-based. The goal of the program is to establish a trusting relationship with families to help them be confident, healthy families and parents. The MIECHV worker provides visits in the family’s home to offer support, assist with parent-child interactions, healthy relationships and other parenting knowledge such as nutrition, safety and developmental progress. The MIECHV Family Support Worker will assist the family in establishing goals and a plan for their accomplishment by identifying family needs and barriers to success. This position also allows for working from home up to 2 days a week.
PRE-EMPLOYMENT REQUIREMENTS:
The requirements listed below are representative of the education, experience, knowledge, skill, and/or ability required to be considered for this position.
- Requires completion of an associate degree in early childhood/Education/Social Work/Family Services or related field from an accredited college or university and 5 years’ experience working with children and/or families.
OR
- A bachelor’s degree in early childhood/Education/Social Work/Family Services or related field from an accredited four-year college or university and 2 years’ experience working with children and/or families.
Applicants must also have the ability to work in a highly confidential setting and be able to understand, learn, and adapt to new technology. Employment is contingent upon a criminal background check including a registry check of past/current founded child abuse.
Salary range for this position is $18.56 - $21.81 and is commensurate with education and experience. This is a full-time position and will require travel in the service area.
