Middle School Summer Program-

DESCRIPTION:
The Middle School Summer Program is primarily designed as intensive remediation programs for students who are struggling with basic English Language Arts, Mathematical, and Science skills. The goal of the program is to help prepare Middle School students and incoming high school freshmen for success in their ELA, Math, and Science classes for the coming school year.
- Students will be on average 1 to 2 years behind their grade level standards.
- Note: Scope of programs and number of positions available will depend on funding and is contingent upon student enrollment.
PROGRAM DETAILS:
- Five weeks: June 24 - July 25
- Monday-Thursday (off Fridays and July 4)
- 10am-2pm
- Authentic implementation of intervention curriculum;
- Provide foundational skills in the subject area;
- Work to meet each student's needs by using different intervention approaches based on the students' response to the methods being used;
- Conduct and track diagnostic, formative and summative assessments to evaluate the progress of each student;
- Maintain accurate records/data of student work;
- Use assessment data to plan instruction that targets the needs of the students;
- Communication with parents to provide feedback on the student's progress;
QUALIFICATIONS:
Applicants must hold appropriate Middle School teaching certification (mathematics, science or English). Teachers who have a passion for and experience working with struggling students are strongly encouraged to apply. Candidates must be available to work the full length of the program.
REMUNERATION:
Remuneration will be in accordance with the applicable KEA Salary Guide.
