JOB DESCRIPTION NARRATIVE:
Math Interventionist provides essential Tier II-III differentiated Math instruction for students struggling in all areas of Mathematics. The Math Interventionist will provide pull-out services for students after receiving whole group or grade level instruction as additional support to Tier I classroom instruction. In some instances, students will be served by the Math Interventionist as an elective class or additional support during their school day.
QUALIFICATIONS:
Knowledge:
Knowledge and understanding of teaching mathematics to students; Current Oklahoma Teaching Certification in Elementary Education, Math certification preferred
Skills:
Abalance of personal and professional skills that will enable implementation of the mathematics skills and standards. Ability to maintain rapport and work closely with teachers, principal and staff while facilitating the mathematic intervention for students lacking in knowledge and understanding of math skills and standards. Ability to collect and analyze data. Also understand the scope and sequence of the mathematic process.
Ability to assist staff with all assessments and other diagnostics test in mathematics whether CFA's or computer software programs for math remediation.
Machines/Equipment:
Computer processing, instructional technology, generate spreadsheets, district data programs.
Essential Job Functions:
- Provide Tier II and III push-out differentiated instruction for students struggling in math during an elective period after students have Tier I math instruction. This would be used as their Tier II or Tier III Math intervention.
- Provide Tier II and III differentiated instruction for students struggling in math utilizing Math software and teacher-directed instruction in small groups.
- Periodically observe and teach whole group or grade level Math instruction.
- Observe and assist struggling students during whole group or grade level instruction.
- Compile and analyze assessment data.
- Coordinate with teachers on skills and effective strategies addressing skills for cohesive instruction in Tier I-III
