Mid-Level Technical Writer

A Mid-level Technical Writer, under general supervision, plans, writes, and edits multimedia and web-based publications. Products created include, but are not limited to, annual release/enhancement documentation, product support manuals, product training manuals, installation manuals, help documents, and tutorials in support of customer or internal organizations.

This is a remote position and candidates can be located throughout the U.S.

The target salary range for this position is $65,000-$85,000, based on location and experience.

• Researching technical information and converting it into manuals and web-based documents for non-technical and technical users.
• Writing and maintaining XML files using the Darwin Information Typing Architecture (DITA) specification.
• Collaborating with engineers, product managers, quality assurance staff, and UX designers.
• Managing multiple projects, providing status updates, and tenaciously following through with busy or unresponsive subject matter experts (SMEs).

• Minimum of 5 years of experience in a credit union, bank, or other financial services setting or;
• Minimum of 5 years of experience in technical writing.
• Strong communication skills.

• Experience working with or using Symitar.
• Strong knowledge of the financial industry.
• Bachelor’s degree in technical writing, English, journalism, communications, or a related major.
• Familiarity with the principles of minimalism or topic-based writing.
