SUMMARY
Responsible for performing all supervisory functions of the microtransit service (Radio Dispatcher and Road Supervisor). Assists in supervising Microtransit Bus Operators and responsible for maintaining the daily operations of the microtransit service, ensuring safe, reliable, and efficient transportation for passengers. This includes overseeing schedules and zones. The Microtransit Transportation Supervisor will also be responsible for ensuring compliance with all applicable regulations and policies.
WORK SCHEDULE
The ability to work a flexible work schedule is required. Work hours may include four (4) ten hour shifts, nights and weekends, depending on work assignment.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
Other duties may be assigned.
- Keeps Microtransit Manager and Lead Transportation Supervisor informed of any problems.
- Maintains Operator attendance, pay, and leave time records.
- Monitors all in-service vehicles to ensure they are maintaining their pickups and drop offs, frequency needs, passenger loads, and time point checks.
- Monitors CAD/AVL radio system and Via to maintain contact with transit vehicle operators to control on-street service and to respond to emergencies and special needs.
- Respond to Operator calls for assistance in a professional and timely manner.
- Ensures that road problems and detours are properly documented and communicated to operators and other appropriate stakeholders.
- Handles schedule revisions and changes.
- Maintains accurate management data and reports.
- Maintains updated seniority lists.
- Accurately documents disciplinary action of operators after properly checking employee records and ensures that company policies and procedures are followed.
- Effectively communicates the entire dispatch regarding location and maintains availability through radio communication throughout entire shift.
- Manages daily employee data into Via and assigning of work in Via.
- Maintains extra board, ensuring that all operators are accounted for, and assigns vehicles to operators while keeping proper records via a computerized transportation system.
- Maintains accurate sick book records and data entry in Hastus.
- Prepares daily operational reports regarding road failures, accidents, vehicle changes, run numbers, vehicle mileage, tablet/software problems, etc.
- Supervises, instructs, and conducts routine checks of operators relative to schedule adherence, route, proper signage, traffic regulations, safety, operating rules and policies, uniform regulation, general appearance, physical condition, attitude toward the public, proper fare collection, and general demeanor.
- Manages on-board and vehicular accident scenes, conducts accident investigations, and completes all corresponding reports.
- Provides on-street supervision of transit operators to ensure compliance with operating standards and to assist with problems; re-establishes service in case of breakdowns; controls unruly passengers; suggests alternative routing due to accidents.
- Operates vehicle both in and out of service as needed.
- Assist with the other modes (fixed route and paratransit) as needed.
SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES
- Assist Lead Transportation Supervisor with supervision of full-time Bus Operators.
- Exercises discretion and independent judgment in making operational decisions.
QUALIFICATIONS

- Must have strong written and verbal skills, PC proficient in Windows environment using spreadsheets and word-processing software, and prior union environment experience preferred.
- Must have excellent attendance and work performance record.
- Ability to manage time efficiently and effectively, detail oriented and strong organizational skills.
- Excellent technical skills required with Radio CAD/AVL experience preferred. Ability to enter, correct and retrieve data.
- Must be able to work a flexible schedule.
Education and/or Experience
- 2 years experience in a supervisory/management capacity.
- Valid Virginia Commercial Driver’s License required.
- Familiar with routes and service area.
- Extensive knowledge of transit industry.
