Position Summary
Manage the preparation and distribution of financial and statistical reports of the Company for filing with various federal and state regulatory agencies, as well as internal management, securities analysts, investors, and industry groups. Review and interpret new and proposed accounting regulations.
Essential Responsibilities

  • Supervise preparation and distribution of various external financial reports of the Company to the SEC, FERC, ERISA/DOL, regulators, lenders, media, financial analysts, and shareholders. Ensure compliance with various reporting and accounting requirements for such reports.
  • Maintain in-depth knowledge of accounting and reporting issues. Establish new processes as needed to support financial reports.
  • Prepare, coordinate, and file materials and financial information to meet filing requirements and support securities registration and issuance (debt and equity) for all Xcel Energy companies.
  • Provide rate case support and schedules for historical financial data and answer any data requests that pertain to this.
  • Manage the External Reporting team. Develop the team's capabilities by providing technical guidance, training, and on-the-job coaching. Ensure an effective team is in place. Is responsible for hiring/termination of employment, performance management, and administering cyclical processes for the team (i.e. base pay cycle, talent reviews, etc.)
  • Lead complex projects. Lead the implementation of plans to address process improvements and problem resolutions.
  • Present External Reporting packages to senior leadership on a quarterly or ad hoc basis.

Minimum Requirements
  • Bachelor's degree in accounting, finance, or related degree required.
  • Advanced degree desired. CPA certification required.
  • Minimum of 7 years' experience in general financial accounting and reporting or tax experience, with an emphasis on complex accounting issues, processes, and SEC reporting. Note: Candidates with a Master's degree or certification such as CMA, CFA, etc. (in addition to CPA) or investment banking or public accounting background may be granted years of experience to reach the 7-year minimum.
  • In depth knowledge of GAAP, SEC, FERC, and various other regulatory or tax rules and principles required.
  • Advanced skills with Microsoft Office applications.
  • Demonstrated ability to effectively communicate to a variety of audiences and analyze complex business scenarios.
  • Experience with project management is essential.

Preferred Requirements: Previous management experience. Experience with Workiva application. Experience with a regulated utility.
Salary range is $127,000-$150,000/year

Non-Bargaining
The anticipated starting base pay for this position is: $127,000.00 to $150,000.00 per year
