Mental Health Agency with residential programs in El Monte seeking PART-TIME and ON-CALL Mental Health Workers.
- PART-TIME: Shift is Thursday-Saturday, 3pm-11:30pm
- ON-CALL: Shifts will vary and are as needed. We are open 24/7.
Help adults with Mental Health disorders.
We are a 24-hour residential program for adults with Mental Health disorders.
General responsibilities vary based on hours of shift. Some primary duties may include:
- Documentation.
- Conducting client and house safety rounds.
- Conducting medication counts and tracking.
- Cleaning facility, and modeling cooking and other activities of daily living for and/or with clients.
- Engaging with clients through socialization, teaching, mentoring.
- Must also be good with people and assist clients such clients have needs that arise during the shift.
- Escorting clients to medical appointments and/or other appointments.
- Working to keep clients calm, feeling cared for, and assisting them with their multiple needs.
Program strives to teach and monitor activities of daily living; provides hands-on instruction and guidance. This includes daily, weekly, and other household chores, transportation, meal preparation and cooking, assisting clients to understand and follow the program rules and various other activities
Primary responsibilities include providing care and supervision of adult clients, providing assistance in performing household chores, assisting with self-administration of medication, providing social activity and taking clients on approved outings, conducting basic groups, problem solving, conducting house rounds, communicating appropriately and effectively with clients to maintain health and safety, and complete chart documentation.
Other duties as assigned by the director.
Minimum Requirements:
- Must have graduated from high school or possess a GED. Some college is desirable.
- Experience working with people with Mental Health issues is desirable, but not required.
- Able to work interdependently, constructively and effectively with others in a community-based treatment setting.
- Understanding of, and/or sensitivity to the issues involved in providing service to a multi-ethnic population.
- Ability to be friendly, but also to maintain boundaries and guide clients in meeting their goals.
- Ability to apply critical thinking skills, and problem solving skills.
- Willing to work shifts as assigned; reliability.
- Good communication skills.
- Current valid driver's license, insurance, be 21 or older and an acceptable driving record with DMV to qualify under the agency's auto insurance.
- Able to obtain Department of Justice clearance, in accordance with Community Care Licensing requirement.
- Willing to participate in at least 20 hours of in-service training per year and supervision (many trainings offered are online due to COVID).
- All staff members must be fully vaccinated against COVID-19 as a condition of employment. Successful candidates for this position will be required to submit proof of vaccination against COVID-19 or request an exemption for qualifying medical or religious reasons during the onboarding process. Candidates should not present proof of vaccination until instructed to do so by the hiring department.
Desired, but may not be required.
- Experience working in a facility serving people with Mental Health disabilities preferred, but not required. We will provide training for caring, compassionate and interested hires.
- Hourly rate of pay is determined based on education and/or experience. This will be discussed at our employment screening.
