Mental Health Support Specialist/DSP

People Incorporated Mental Health Services is seeking a Mental Health Support Specialist to join our programs. This is an entry-level position that is responsible for providing a supportive environment for our clients. These weekend part-time positions are great for students and for anyone who wants to get in extra hours.
Schedule: Part-Time weekend positions - morning, afternoon and overnight opportunities
Location(s): Twin Cities Metro - Minnesota
Hiring Range: $20 Hourly

Main Job Duties:
- Document interactions with clients into organization’s Electronic Health Record (EHR) and if applicable, program-specific documentation/record-keeping system, while providing clear and concise communication with client, staff and other applicable parties.
- Effectively interact and exhibit behavior that is consistent with customer service and professional standards established by the organizational, division and program.
- Responsible for medication administration in accordance with organization and program policies and procedures.
- Using person-centered principles, actively engage with clients in their daily activities, and develop and maintain appropriate relationships that support the client in meeting their individual goals.
- Provide crisis intervention and de-escalation for clients experiencing Mental Health symptoms or other emotional responses while prioritizing client and program safety.
- Independent Living Skills, teaching and/or coaching, as it relates to the individual’s goal and/or treatment plans.
Education and Experience
- GED or High School Diploma
- If working in a program that is governed primarily by Group Residential Housing (GRH) guidelines, must be enrolled in a program in the pursuit of a bachelor or Associate of Arts degree in a health or human services field; or
- Have one year of experience working within the target population served; or
- Experience as a certified peer specialist according to Minnesota Statute section 256B.0615; or
- Meets the requirements for unlicensed personnel under Minnesota Statute under sections 144A.43 to 144A.483.
- If applicable, prefer experience working with individuals with chemical dependency and have been free from substance abuse for one year.
Certifications/Licenses
- Upon hire must earn certification in First Aid.
- Upon hire and prior to independently working with clients, must receive CPR training.
- Upon hire must earn certification in CPR as required by program and division guidelines.
- Upon hire must earn certification in Medication Administration and van certification, if applicable.
