Mental Health Referral Specialist

Family Health Centers of San Diego (FHCSD) is looking for a Mental Health Referral Specialist to complete assigned referrals for assigned department(s). Makes appointments directly into CMIS for the appropriate FHCSD site or service. Schedules translation services as needed and makes reminder calls as assigned. Provides excellent patient-centered communication and education regarding referral processes.

Responsibilities:

• Accurately completes referrals to include ICD-9 and CPT codes, following established department protocols. Makes initial appointments directly into CMIS; gives appointment cancelation information.
• Actively tracks follow-up and referral pool(s); schedules patient services as required.
• Answers 30-40 incoming calls daily
• Communicates to clinic staff status of pending referrals using CMIS updates and chart notes; indicates referral status changes as they occur.
• Enters required data, including basic insurance and screening information. Provides fee information for self-pay patients.
• Follows established protocols for patients who indicate they are in crisis.
• Makes assigned reminder calls.
• Schedules interpreter services as required.
• Submits accurate and timely data about referrals and appointments by site.
• Performs other duties as assigned.

Requirements:

• High school diploma or GED equivalent required.
• 1 year of experience in an ambulatory care setting required.
• Successful completion of a Medical terminology course preferred.

Job Type: Full-time

Pay: $17.00 - $22.67 per hour
