As the Mental Health Counselor you will play a crucial role in providing skill-building and behaviorally focused Mental Health services to youth and families. You will provide child and family focused and strength-based services in the office and community, including, but not limited to schools, hospitals, and family homes in San Jose, CA.

You will impact the lives of youth and families providing services in the office and community, including, but not limited to schools, hospitals, and family homes who for the first time, are eligible for Seneca services.

- Offer behavioral coaching, counseling, skill-building, case management, and crisis intervention to clients and caregivers
- Contribute to treatment plans by identifying the function of behaviors and suggesting effective replacements
- Implement behavioral interventions for clients and caregivers
- Provide on-call coverage as scheduled to the program
- Attend program and treatment meetings as required
- Complete Mental Health notes, functional behavioral analyses, treatment plans, and necessary paperwork
- Participate in weekly supervision with the Lead Social Worker or Program Supervisor
- Maintain accurate documentation, including timesheets, petty cash, and mileage records
Required:
- Bachelor’s degree in Social Work/Psychology/Counseling/Social Services
- Flexible schedule with the ability to work some evenings as needed
- Be part of a rotating emergency pager system, scheduled with supervisor ahead of time
- Must be at least 21 years of age
- Own vehicle, Valid California driver's license and insurability with Seneca's automobile policy
- TB test clearance, fingerprinting clearance, and any other state/federal licensing or certification requirements
- Must show proof of COVID-19 vaccination
Preferred:
- Experience providing strong behavioral interventions with youth (preferably within a community based setting)
- Strong written and verbal skills, including solid computer skills in Microsoft Office programs
- Strong organizational skills as demonstrated by the ability to effectively manage multiple tasks
- Full-time
- Tue - Sat; 9:30am-6pm
- Flexible schedule with the ability to work some evenings as needed
- Starting at $25.75 - $28.25 per hour, actual salary dependent on creditable experience above the minimum qualification
- Additional compensation provided upon passing bilingual language proficiency exam
