Electrician

Primary Function:

• To install, repair, construct, adjust, modify and service all types of electrical and electronic equipment, plant instrumentation and relays.
• Troubleshoot hydraulic and pneumatic systems, read ladder logic to troubleshoot and program PLC's.

Tools and Equipment:

• Wiring diagrams, drawings, instructional literature, electrical and electronic tools, computer, programmable logic controllers, hydraulic tester, gauges, calibrating and testing equipment, hand tools and power tools necessary for the job, brazing and oxygen/acetylene burning equipment, etc.

Materials Handled:

• Electrical and Electronic components, electronic instrument controls and regulators, electronic computing and control systems, data recording and processing equipment, sonic testing equipment, hydraulic and pneumatic valves, industrial TV, public address systems and other communications equipment, time clocks, transducers, wire and cable and miscellaneous terminating devices, conduit, limit switches, etc.

Working Procedure:

• Performs all working procedures of Electronic/Electrical Repairer classification, job number 03809.
• Troubleshoots hydraulic and pneumatic systems.
• Troubleshoots and programs PLC's.
• Reads ladder logic to troubleshoot PLC's

Minimum Education:
High school graduate or equivalent;

Education Preferred:
Associates Degree in Industrial Electrician program or Industrial Electrician apprenticeship.

Experience:
A minimum of two (2) years journey-level experience as an electrician maintaining heavy industrial machinery with a working knowledge of AC-DC motors and controls, combustion, metering, air conditioning, power distribution, electronics process control computers, welding, conduit and schematics.

Preferred Experience:
Five (5) years of experience as an electrician in the above areas and a graduate of an approved apprentice program or technical training beyond high school.
