In Fremont, CA, we serve global clients in telecom and datacom industries in providing innovative optical modules and subsystems to support our customer's next generation networks. We are looking for a MEMS Packaging Engineer.

This person will be responsible for the design, development, and testing of innovative MEMS devices and systems focusing on MEMS packaging. You will be responsible for participating in the mechanical aspects of MEMS device packaging from concept to production, collaborating with other engineers, scientists, and customers, and ensuring the highest quality and performance of our products.

What You Will Do

  • Design, model, simulate, and optimize MEMS micro-mirror devices and packages using CAD, FEA, and other tools
  • Generate mechanical designs and models, create test plans, technical documents, reports, and presentations, perform tolerance analysis, characterize devices, generate engineering changes, release drawings for fabrication, evaluate vendors, analyze issues and determine root cause
  • Provide technical guidance to engineers and technicians. Provide technical support for customers and suppliers
  • Support process development and production teams
  • Perform and/or support design verification, reliability, and failure analysis to ensure that design meets all specifications and customer requirements
  • Perform other related duties as assigned by management

Who You Are (Basic Qualifications)
  • Bachelors degree in Mechanical Engineering, Physics, Applied Physics, Optics, or related technical field or discipline
  • At least 3 years of experience in mechanical system design and development
  • Experience with mechanical design for free space and/or micro-optics optical system design, optical engineering, or relevant fields
  • Experience using CAD tools, such as SolidWorks and AutoCAD
  • Experience with DFMEA, PFMEA, DOE
  • Experience with design for manufacturing and yield
  • Experience analyzing information and solving problems

What Will Put You Ahead

  • MS or PhD degree in Mechanical Engineering, Physics, Applied Physics, Optics, or related field related technical discipline
  • At least 5 years of mechanical system design and process development of optical products
  • Experience with optical MEMS devices, especially micromirror arrays for optical switching, and/or with optical components and systems such as lenses, collimators, fibers, lasers, and detectors
  • Ability to speak and communicate in Chinese
  • Familiarity or ability to perform FEA simulation using Ansys Mechanical or other tools

For this role, we anticipate paying $120,000- $175,000 per year. This role is eligible for variable pay, issued as a monetary bonus or in another form.
