Encompass Credit Union is a local growing financial institution with over 70 years serving Tipton County and surrounding areas.
Purpose
Member Service Specialists (MSS) ensure that every member and guest entering the credit union lobby is greeted warmly and welcomed. They serve as the primary account opener in the branch and also assist in various Member Service and consumer lending tasks. Their goal is to acquire, expand, and enrich member relationships by providing a full range of products and services. This position reports to Branch Management and has no direct reports. Typical weekly schedule is variation of 40 hours to facilitate branch hours of Monday – Thursday 8:00 AM – 5:00 PM, Friday 8:00 AM – 6:00 PM, and Saturday 8:30 AM – 12:30 PM.
Duties and Responsibilities
The Member Service Specialist must effectively carry out the following duties and responsibilities, and others as assigned, in a manner consistent with the credit union’s mission and core values:
General (40%)
- Promote credit union products and services based on needs as determined from member interviews.
- Maintain current knowledge of all credit union products, services, and policies. Provide guidance to members on interest rates and offer other services offered by the credit union. Assist with closing accounts.
- Assist in maintaining facilities and equipment through routine practices or notifying appropriate areas for reporting.
- Understand and adhere to all policies, including BSA/AML, C/MIP, cash handling guidelines, and mandatory reporting incidents.
Account Services (30%)
- Assist members with new share accounts and in the completion of IRA and Share Certificate applications. Process new account information including ordering checks, verifying eligibility, checking for appropriate signatures, etc. Print starter checks, create new account card for member at account opening.
- Be a subject matter expert for the credit union on loans, IRA's, CD's and other savings products and services, ensuring specialty knowledge kept up to date through educational offerings.
- Assist members with electronic funds such as wires, cards, online/mobile banking, etc.
- Assist with other member needs such as POAs, deceased accounts, and trusts.
Lending (30%)
- Analyze and process consumer loan applications. Pull credit reports for all accounts, verify debts, and assist members with information on the status of loan applications. Ensure accurate processing of loans by making sure that each one is properly documented, closed, disbursed, and filed.
- Be aware of competitor rates and terms and internal trends relating to lending.
- Assist members with reasons for denial and explore options.
- Assist with questions regarding lending services and types of loans offered.
