As a Megaproject Cost Specialist, you will play a critical role in optimizing and controlling the total cost management program on mega Projects. You will be responsible for monitoring and managing the Total Cost Management program, including cost management strategies, analyzing financial and cost engineering data, change management and working collaboratively with various departments to drive accurate, consistent reporting and analysis targeting cost reduction and efficiency initiatives. This person will maintain and execute Cost Management, Change Management, Budgeting and Forecasting, Variance Analysis, Performance Metrics & Reporting, Compliance and Continuous Improvement.
- Self-starter with ability to prioritize competing priorities. Agile, flexible and open minded
- Advanced Excel user (must be able to demonstrate ability to read/create compound formulas, summarize data)
- Ability to recall repetitive tasks
- Use PowerBI dashboards to report to executive management. Create/maintain excel files/workbooks where in house systems are under development
- Assist in processing change orders/budget adjustments in in-house cost management system.
- Review/audit invoices submitted from contractors and interface with in-house departments and third parties for invoicing and cost tracking purposes
- Coordinate with Project Manager, Project Team on tracking performance against budget and schedule, provide reports
- Use data from procurement and cost management systems to maintain spend and drawdown curves
- Bachelor's degree in Business, Data Analytics, Project Management, Construction Management, or relevant mega project experience
- Experience (typically 5+ years) in cost management, budgeting, and forecast analysis, ideally in the complex industrial process industry.
- Strong knowledge cost management processes and cost structures on a large scale EPC project. Owner experience is important
- Proficiency in financial modeling and cost analysis tools.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to collaborate effectively across departments, in ambiguous environments
- Analytical mindset with attention to detail. Agile in learning and utilizing new software
