Q Center is looking for a Full Time Technical Director to join our team!
Job Summary
The Technical Director manages all technical risks involved with both onsite and offsite event production including but not limited to conducting technical site surveys and producing site survey reports, producing to-scale drawings of our set ups, specifying equipment requirements, negotiating rental agreements with vendors, supervising the set ups and strikes, and serving in a crew position as needed. At Q Center, this person is responsible for ensuring the proper labor and equipment resources are available at the time of need, and are optimally scheduled to maximize profitability for Q Creative.
This position is on-site, with a varying schedule including some evenings and weekends.

Education & Experience
- College degree in Communications, Media Production, Event Production, Marketing, Theatre, or a related field.
- At least 8 years of event and/or video production experience.
- Familiar with a variety of the field's concepts, practices, and procedures.
- Microsoft Office competency: Word, Excel, PowerPoint.
Physical Requirements
- Flexible and long hours sometimes required.
- Ability to travel on a regular basis to support offsite events
- Medium work – Exerting up to 50 pounds of force occasionally, and/or 20 pounds of force frequently or constantly to lift, carry, push, pull, or otherwise move objects.

- Review, analyze, and evaluate business procedures.
- Identify, recommend, and implement new processes, technologies, and systems to improve and streamline organizational processes and use of resources and materials.
- Ensure that departmental decisions and project plans such as those for staffing, development, organization, material efficiency, hardware acquisitions, and facilities are in line with Q Center’s business plan and vision.
- Ensure work environments are adequate and safe.
- Establish and maintain relationships with third parties/vendors, overseeing and managing all vendor contracts
- Keep abreast of market trends and competitor activities.
- Develop and maintain complete knowledge of and comply with all departmental policies/service procedures and Standard Operating Procedures.
- Interview candidates for open management department positions and follow standards for hiring approvals.
- Organize and oversee the work and schedules of departmental managers and/or supervisors.
- Conduct associate performance reviews in accordance with Q Center standards.
- Motivate, coach and counsel all department management according to Q Center Policy.
- Establish and administer the department’s budget.
- Plan, direct, control, implement, evaluate, monitor, and forecast budgets and cost of sales to achieve financial objectives.
- Communicate and explain new directives, policies, or procedures to managers; for major changes, meets with entire staff to explain changes, answer questions, and maintain morale.
- Improve associate and guest and satisfaction through policy and procedural changes.
- Lead coordination and integration of efforts among departments to produce smoother workflow and more cost-effective business processes.
- Projects a positive image of the organization to associates, guests, industry, and community.
- Ensure overall associate and guest satisfaction and safety is achieved.
- Perform other related duties as assigned.
- Manage all technical risks involved with event production both onsite and offsite.
- Conduct technical site surveys & produce site survey reports, including to-scale drawings of our set-ups.
- Research & obtain bids from a variety of technical & scenic providers in various locations to ensure competitive pricing & profit margins.
- Provide producers with state-of-the-art technology ideas for implementation in event production.
- Confer with producers to plan project schedules and determine resources needed; assist with strategic execution of all phases of production process.
- Schedule internal facility, equipment and production personnel for Q Creative.
- Communicate production assignments to staff as well as freelancers, clearly and in a timely manner.
- Communicate regularly with other Q Center departments to coordinate setup and strike logistics and maximize cross-team efficiency.
- Recruit, interview, hire and orient freelancers.
- Supervise set-ups and strikes.
- Serve in a crew position, as needed.
- Maintain radio contact with the Department Staff and other departments throughout shift, responding to all inquiries in a timely manner using proper etiquette.
- Manage equipment inventory.
- Ensure all equipment is stored properly and any broken equipment is identified and repaired in a timely manner.
- Supervise other Q Creative staff members as assigned, providing formal and informal feedback to support their professional development.
