The Medication Technician (MT) assists in the administration of medications to residents as ordered by the attending physician, under the direction of the attending physician, the nurse supervisor and/or Wellness Director. The MT also serves as a Personal Care Aide (PCA) and assists residents with all activities of daily living including bathing, dressing, grooming, toileting, showering/bathing and eating. Answers residents' call bells in a timely fashion. Provides residents with help walking, exercising and moving in and out of bed. Aides in cleaning rooms, changing linens and doing resident laundry. Must complete a medication assistance preceptorship and pass competency evaluation, medication assistance test and any necessary exams in accordance within the laws of NY State and company policy. Must be available to work (rotating) weekends, extended shift hours and holidays as needed. Candidate must be a high school graduate or have a GED. Must have First Aid certification upon hire or obtained during probationary period at the company's expense. First Aid certification must remain current during employment. Candidates are subject to a criminal history background check, fingerprinting and a pre-employment physical and TB test.
