Department: Outpatient Drug Treatment

Reports to: Co-Occurring Continuum Director

Status: Full-time

FLSA: Exempt

Position Summary

The Medication Assisted Treatment (MAT) Supervisor is responsible for the day-to-day operations of the MAT program. The Supervisor ensures compliance with all contracts, licenses, applicable laws, and Joint Commission Standards.

 

Required Qualifications

  • High School diploma or equivilant required. Bachelor's degree preferred.
  • Medical Assistant training/certification preferred OR an equivalent combination of education and experience sufficient to successfully perform the essential duties of the job.
  • Current CPR or CPR/AED certification or willingness to complete within the first 90 days of hire.
  • Experience in providing services to people with substance use disorders (preferred).
  • Experience in providing services to people with Medi-Cal (preferred).
  • Previous supervisory experience (preferred).
  • Knowledge and training in substance abuse and related health issues (i.e. HIV, Hepatitis C, etc.) and local treatment community and referrals.
  • If in recovery, three years sobriety preferred.
  • Good written and verbal communication skills and strong interpersonal skills.
  • Computer (PC) literate in general office functions such as word processing, email, database software and electronic health records. Knowledge of Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Outlook).
  • Adherence to infection control procedures, including but not limited to standard precautions of temperature monitoring, hand washing, symptom self-monitoring, masking, and social distancing.
  • Assist and support the Center/Department/Program to meet standards of High Reliability.
  • Valid California Driver’s License, with insurable driving record.

 

Essential Responsibilities

  • Ensure the proper intake of all patients,reviewing initialscreenings, submitting accurate and timely billing, maintaining the quality and confidentiality of patient records.
  • Work with the Associate Medical Director of Addiction Medicine, Nurse Practitioner, and WellSpace Health providers to coordinate the MAT program, including: in reach, outreach, transportation coordination, compliance with Drug Medi-Cal requirements.
  • Provide support and guidance to medical assistant staff, this includes performing medical assistant duties, when needed.
  • Coordinate assignment to WellSpace Health through Medi-Cal.
  • Collaborate with team members, the Associate Medical Director of Addiction Medicine, COC Nurse Practitioner, COC Medical Assistants, COC program managers and Substance Use Disorder counselors.
  • Attend regular provider meetings to promote the program, encourage referrals, and troubleshoot problems.
  • Provide ongoing support and guidance of case management functions, including: monitoring, evaluation, and resource referrals to participants as they transition through each phase of the treatment program.
  • Represent WellSpace Health at external meetings as required/assigned.
  • Coordinate Quality Assurance/Quality Improvement activities and report to the QA/QI Committee as requested. This includes chart reviews, referral tracking and outcome data.
  • Comply with all contractual requirements, including Drug Medi-Cal regulations.
  • Commitment to HIPAA and ability to abide by standards of professional ethics and maintain confidentiality.
  • Adherence to infection control procedures, including but not limited to, standard precautions of temperature monitoring, hand washing, symptom self-monitoring, masking and social distancing.
  • Assist and support the Center/Department/Program to meet standards of High Reliability.
  • Must have valid driver’s license and insurable driving record.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Physical Demands and Work Environment

The work environment is characteristic of a medical clinic environment. The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job. While performing the duties of this job, the employee is frequently required to sit; use hands and arms to reach. The employee is also required to stand; walk; and reach with hands and arms. The employee must occasionally lift and/or move up to 20 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, and the ability to adjust focus. The employee must also possess hearing and speech to communicate in person and over the phone. The noise level in the work environment is usually moderately noisy.

The employee may be in contact with individuals and families in crisis who may be ill, using substances and/or not attentive to personal health and safety for themselves or their homes. The employee may experience a number of unpleasant sensory demands associated with the patient’s use of alcohol and drugs, and the lack of personal care. The employee may also be exposed to bodily fluids (blood, urine) and hazardous chemicals.
