Medicare Strategy Innovation Director Sr.

Location: This position will work a hybrid model (remote and office). The ideal candidate will live within 50 miles of one of our Elevance Health PulsePoint locations.

The Medicare Strategy Innovation Director Sr. is responsible for developing and overseeing an enterprise wide Medicare strategy (e.g. STARS performance, Duals: Medicare and Medicaid) and implementation through influencing external entities (e.g. government agencies) and internal entities (e.g. government relations) and through providing innovative product/program design, support and guidance across the enterprise to promote profitable membership growth and/or increased performance, working with all Regional Medicare Plan Presidents and their teams to design plans, benefits and programs for the applicable region.

How you will make an impact:

  • Defines the strategy and works directly with internal and external entities to influence and provide guidance and direction on the strategy, design, and implementation of products (e.g. duals programs, dual-eligible members) or processes (e.g. improving STARS performance).
  • Serves as the subject matter expert and primary Product Development contact across the enterprise and for all Regional Medicare and Medicaid Plan Presidents. Influences, coordinates, and facilitates enterprise product/process innovation and product/process development activities (e.g. evaluating internal/external capabilities, identifying market leading performance strategies, creating product strategies, developing proposals), in partnership with the regional Market Innovation Directors.
  • Utilizes partnerships with Product Development Support team, industry connections and/or external partners to identify best practices and develop cutting edge strategies.
  • Develops a 3 to 5 year product strategy and plan for the specific business products (e.g. Duals) and/or processes (STARS performance).
  • Collaborates and coordinates work with peers, other departments within Medicare, and matrix/shared service partners (e.g. Finance, Actuarial, IT, Digital Operations, Quality, Pharmacy, HCM, CSBD, CAO, and CarelonRx) to identify capability enhancements and innovative solutions, establish accountabilities and ensure connectivity between shared services and enterprise business initiatives (e.g. creating innovative duals products/programs, increasing specific STARS results across the company footprint through duals, MA and Med Supp populations/products).

Minimum Requirements:

  • Requires a BA/BS degree and a minimum of 10 years of related experience; or any combination of education and experience, which would provide an equivalent background.

Preferred Skills, Capabilities and Experiences:

  • Thorough Medicare and Medicaid knowledge strongly preferred.
  • MBA preferred.
