MEDICAL TECHNOLOGIST (PART-TIME)

Orion Laboratories is in search of a skilled Medical Technologist to become a valuable member of our expanding team based in Baton Rouge, LA. As a Medical Technologist, you will work under the direct supervision of our Laboratory Manager and will be responsible for conducting a wide range of clinical lab tests, including both automated and manual procedures, at our primary facility. This role demands the ability to work autonomously, taking the initiative to ensure timely and precise test execution while maintaining meticulous documentation and promptly notifying of any abnormal results.

Schedule:

• Part-Time Evening Shifts, Monday - Friday (4:00 PM - 12:00 AM)
• Rotating Saturdays (8:00 AM-5:00 PM)

Responsibilities:

• Analyze specimens using approved testing procedures (see department SOPs).
• Maintain records that demonstrate that proficiency testing samples are tested in the same manner as patient specimens
• Follow the laboratory's established policies and procedures whenever test systems are not within the laboratory's established acceptable levels of performance
• Adhere to the laboratory's quality control policies, document all quality control activities, instrument and procedural calibrations and all maintenance performed
• Monitor test systems to ensure acceptable performance levels and carry out corrective actions when needed
• Troubleshoot issues and complete corrective action to ensure all laboratory operations are at acceptable levels
• Demonstrate initiative in making suggestions to improve efficiency and productivity and provide consistent feedback
• Follow CLIA, HIPAA, OSHA, and safety guidelines as described in their respective guidelines
• Monitor inventory and replenish supplies as necessary
• Communicate daily updates to management
• Maintain a clean and safe work environment

Qualifications:

• MT/MLT/CLS (ASCP), Louisiana State Licensed
• Bachelor's degree in Biology, Chemistry, Medical Technology, or a related science
• Experience as a Medical Technologist/Technician as well as Chemistry experience is preferred
• Knowledge of clinical lab operations as well as policies and procedures
• Excellent attention to detail with an understanding of laboratory practices
