Position Purpose:
The Medical Record Specialist is responsible for processing physical and electronic records for storage and retrieval. This position performs a variety of complex and confidential duties requiring analysis and attention to detail and assist in scanning documents into the record. The person we are looking for must have the technical, organizational, and clerical skills necessary to efficiently and effectively maintain the electronic records of person served, in accordance with all the state and federal licensing requirements. Some functions of this position include but are not limited to document imaging, quality review and release of information.
What you will do:
- Protects the security of Medical Records and ensure that confidentiality is maintained.
- Communicate effectively with persons served as well with both internal and external partners.
- Prepares correspondence to health care providers upon consent from the person served.
- Ability to identify and distinguish various types of medical record documents received from internal and external sources.
- Validates request and authorizations for release of medical information according to established procedures.
- Assist with program audits as needed.
Minimum Qualifications:
- High School Diploma/Equivalent
- Previous training or experience working with medical record documentation preferred
- Pre-employment drug screening, Act 33/34/73 clearances
