Overview:
We are seeking a detail-oriented and organized individual to join our team as a Medical Records Clerk. As a Medical Records Clerk, you will be responsible for maintaining and organizing patient Medical Records in a medical office setting. This is an important role that ensures accurate and efficient record-keeping for patient care.
Responsibilities:
- Organize and maintain patient Medical Records in accordance with established procedures and guidelines
- Retrieve and file Medical Records as needed for patient appointments, referrals, or other requests
- Ensure the confidentiality and security of patient information in compliance with HIPAA regulations
- Review Medical Records for completeness, accuracy, and compliance with documentation standards
- Assist healthcare providers in locating and accessing patient records as needed
- Prepare and scan documents into electronic health record systems
- Maintain inventory of medical record supplies and order new supplies as needed
- Assist with data entry tasks related to patient demographics, insurance information, and billing codes
- Collaborate with other healthcare professionals to ensure accurate and timely record management
Qualifications:
- High school diploma or equivalent required; additional education or certification in medical office administration is a plus
- Previous experience working in a medical office or healthcare setting preferred
- Familiarity with medical terminology, abbreviations, and basic understanding of medical procedures
- Proficient computer skills, including experience with electronic health record systems and Microsoft Office Suite
- Strong attention to detail and ability to maintain accuracy in record keeping
- Excellent organizational skills with the ability to prioritize tasks effectively
- Strong communication skills, both written and verbal
- Ability to maintain confidentiality of sensitive information
