JOB TITLE: Receptionist
POSITION REPORTS TO: Business Office Manager
COLLABORATION WITH: Administrator, Director of Nursing, Medical Director
WORK SCHEDULE:
- Monday through Friday with availability between the hours of 5:30am to 4:30pm
- No holidays, weekends, or on call

GENERAL SUMMARY OF DUTIES:
Provides excellent customer service and representation of the orginization. Directly oversees patient registration, payment collections, chart preparation, and managing incoming calls.
ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS:
- Answer all incoming calls to the facility. Relay information in an accurate and concise manner.
- Greet patients and visitors to the facility in a welcoming and friendly fashion. Notify facility personnel of patient’s arrival if needed.
- Ability to maintain a calm temperament under stressful conditions and always present a professional manner and attitude.
- Accurately enters/scans information into the computer system as needed.
- Prepares patient charts.
- Performs an efficient and smooth patient registration process while providing excellent customer satisfaction.
- Obtain and witness the patient’s or legal guardian’s signatures on legal forms as required.
- Collects deductibles, co-payments and payments for services on day of surgery.
- Files patient charts correctly.
- Perform office functions as directed by the Business Office Manger or designee.
- Is aware and adheres to facility functions, policies and procedures.
- Participate in pertinent educational offerings and facility meetings.
- Checking and stocking forms and supplies as needed.
- Reports unusual occurrences and events in timely and accurate fashion.
- Conserves resources and minimizes cost whenever possible.
- May notify the patient of any anticipated financial responsibility.
- Participates in quality assurance activities.
- Accepts additional duties as requested and shows willingness to get involved in workplace.
- Participates and completes competency program as assigned and mentors staff as assigned.
REQUIREMENTS:
- High School Diploma or equivalent.
KNOWLEDGE:
- General knowledge of computer systems and programs.
- General knowledge of medical terminology.
SKILLS:
- Skill in written and verbal communication and customer relations.
- Skills in working with Windows based software systems.
ABILITIES:
- Ability to work in effectively with patients, medical staff, and external agencies.
- Ability to deal courteously with internal and external customers.
- Ability to accurately, efficiently and professional perform in a complex and busy health care environment.
- Ability to work in independently as well as an integral part of the patient care team.
- Ability to prioritize multiple tasks and effectively handle high volume of interactions required.
PHYSICAL DEMANDS:
- Required sitting and standing for long periods.
- Must be able to lift 25 pounds.
