We are currently seeking a detail-oriented and organized individual to join our team as a Medical Order Entry Specialist. This position plays a crucial role in accurately processing and entering Medical Orders, prescriptions, and other healthcare-related requests into our system. The ideal candidate will have strong data entry skills, knowledge of medical terminology, and a commitment to ensuring the accuracy and integrity of Medical Orders.
Responsibilities:
- Receive and review incoming Medical Orders, prescriptions, and requests from healthcare providers, clinicians, and other sources.
- Accurately enter order details, including patient information, prescribed medications or treatments, dosage instructions, and any special requirements, into the Order Entry system.
- Verify the completeness and accuracy of order information by cross-referencing it with patient records and prescription guidelines.
- Follow established procedures and protocols for Order Entry, ensuring compliance with regulatory requirements and organizational standards.
- Collaborate with healthcare providers, pharmacists, and other team members to clarify order details or resolve discrepancies as needed.
- Prioritize and process orders in a timely manner to meet turnaround time requirements and ensure prompt fulfillment.
- Maintain clear and concise documentation of Order Entry activities, including any modifications or updates to orders.
- Communicate effectively with internal and external stakeholders regarding order status, processing delays, or other relevant information.
- Participate in ongoing training and development opportunities to enhance knowledge of medical terminology, pharmaceutical products, and Order Entry procedures.
- Adhere to confidentiality and privacy policies to protect sensitive patient information and ensure compliance with HIPAA regulations.
Requirements:
- High school diploma or equivalent; additional certification or coursework in medical office administration, pharmacy technology, or a related field is preferred.
- Proven experience in data entry, preferably in a healthcare or pharmacy setting.
- Strong understanding of medical terminology, prescription medications, and healthcare processes.
- Excellent typing speed and accuracy, with a keen eye for detail.
- Proficiency in using computer systems, Order Entry software, and electronic health records (EHR) systems.
- Ability to multitask and prioritize tasks effectively in a fast-paced environment.
- Strong communication skills, both verbal and written, with the ability to interact professionally with healthcare professionals and patients.
- Commitment to maintaining confidentiality and adhering to privacy regulations, including HIPAA.
- Ability to work independently with minimal supervision and as part of a collaborative team.
- Flexibility to adapt to changing priorities and workflow demands as needed.
