Medical-Legal Partnership Staff Attorney (Hybrid)

Description:

The Macon Regional Office of A 501(C)(3) Nonprofit Corporation is seeking a Staff Attorney to assist clients at our Medical-Legal Partnership location in Macon, GA.
Duties:
The Staff Attorney will be based in Macon, GA, working from both GLSP's office and on-site at our medical partner, and will provide representation in a variety of civil legal matters affecting clients' health, including Income Maintenance, Education, Health, Housing, and Family Law issues. The Staff Attorney will perform client intakes, provide referrals, advice, brief services, and/or representation. The position also involves training and coordinating with doctors, social workers, and other health care professionals; working with students in law, medicine, social work, public health, and bioethics; and participating in task forces and committees of service providers.
Requirements:

• Graduate of accredited law school;
• Admission to the Georgia Bar, or willingness to sit for the next exam;
• Reliable vehicle and driver's license; and
• Ability to speak Spanish is a plus.

Qualifications:

• Demonstrated interest or experience working with clients on poverty law issues and public benefits law.
• Willingness and ability to work as part of a team in a professional and collaborative manner.
• Computer literacy, which includes familiarity using email, Microsoft Office, Legal Server, and other computer programs.
• Ability to work with diverse populations, backgrounds, and perspectives.
• Excellent oral advocacy, research, and writing skills.
• Attention to detail and self-motivated.
• Ability to analyze, write, and present ideas and legal concepts clearly and concisely.
