Medical Interpreter

Overview:
We are seeking a skilled and compassionate Medical Interpreter to join our team. As a Medical Interpreter, you will play a crucial role in facilitating effective communication between healthcare providers and patients with limited English proficiency. Your ability to translate medical information accurately and efficiently will ensure that patients receive the highest quality of care.

Responsibilities:
- Provide interpretation services for patients with limited English proficiency during medical appointments, procedures, and consultations
- Assist healthcare providers in understanding patients' cultural backgrounds and beliefs to enhance patient-centered care
- Maintain strict confidentiality and adhere to professional ethics and standards
- Collaborate with healthcare staff to ensure accurate interpretation of medical terminology and concepts
- Facilitate communication between patients and other healthcare professionals, such as nurses, social workers, and child protective services

Qualifications:
- Fluency in English and at least one other language
- Proficiency in medical terminology in both languages
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills
- Strong interpersonal skills, with the ability to build rapport with diverse individuals
- Knowledge of cultural nuances and sensitivity to cultural differences
- Familiarity with documentation review processes in a medical setting
- Certification or training in medical interpretation preferred (e.g., National Board of Certification for Medical Interpreters)
- Familiarity with American Sign Language (ASL) is a plus
