We invite you to consider a part-time faculty position in WCTC’s Academic Assistance Center. We are seeking a dynamic and dedicated faculty member to join our team.
About the Role
WCTC is dedicated to student success and our Academic Assistance Center is a key component of that success. It’s a collaborative space where a team of faculty members bring their diverse areas of expertise in pedagogy, students with differing abilities, technology, reading, or writing together to support students enrolled in college-level courses. We are learner-centered and aim to help students build their understanding of how to be effective college students while working with them on course assignments, test preparation, etc. This position serves students one-on-one or in small groups in the open lab setting of the Assistance Center, sometimes alone, and sometimes with another faculty member. Support may also be provided by this position in the context of a course with primary instruction provided by a content expert faculty member.

Characteristic Duties and Responsibilities (include, but not limited to)
  • Deliver high quality, flexible, and pedagogically sound instruction to a variety of students in the Academic Assistance Center.
  • Demonstrate a strong foundation in pedagogical knowledge.
  • Employ rapid assessment techniques to individualize instruction supporting student mastery of course content and general study skills.
  • Design supplemental materials to meet student learning needs.
  • Use feedback as a developmental tool for growth around instructional effectiveness and collegiality.
  • Effectively teach in multiple formats (face-to-face, hybrid, internet).
  • Maintain positive relationships within the Liberal Arts programs the various occupational programs and student services at WCTC.
  • Integrate technology into teaching of course material.
  • Collaborate with a variety of faculty, staff and students using strong communication and organizational skills.
  • Contribute to program development, curriculum design, and program assessment.
Minimum Qualifications
  • Effective interpersonal communication skills - oral, written, active listening, and non-verbal cues.
  • Ability to manage time, organize work and meet deadlines.
  • Ability to work independently, as part of a team, and/or with minimal supervision.
  • Ability to apply critical thinking and problem-solving skills to work and/or the improvement of processes and/or systems.
  • Ability to prioritize work and adapt to changing priorities.
  • Strong customer service skills which includes working with individuals from diverse backgrounds.
  • Ability to effectively integrate technology into instructional delivery and assessment.
  • Intermediate level of proficiency with computer software applications such as word processing, database, spreadsheet, and presentation programs. Knowledge of and familiarity with video-conferencing.
Educational and Experience Requirements

  • Masters degree in special education, or literacy/reading, or curriculum and instruction or closely related discipline. Or any Masters degree with 18 graduate credits in one of the disciplines listed above. Or any Masters degree with 12 graduate credits in one of the disciplines above and years of teaching experience. Candidates with Bachelor’s degrees and combined relevant experience will be considered.
  • At least two years of teaching experience required (not TA work).
Supplemental Information

This position is a part-time position and supports the Academic Assistance Center and will report to the Dean of Arts and Sciences.
This position requires Wisconsin residence.
