Insurance Verification Specialist
Idaho Eye & Laser Center is a specialty eye care medical and surgical practice with four locations in southeast and southern Idaho to improve accessibility for patients. We currently have an opening for an experienced Insurance Verification Specialist in our financial department based in Idaho Falls.
Our goal is to make the financial part of the health care experience as efficient and transparent as possible. The Insurance Verification Specialist plays a major role in achieving this goal, from verifying patient insurance benefits through final payment for services.
Essential Functions
· Accurately verify eligibility, benefits and calculate estimated patient responsibility to ensure our patients can make informed decisions in regard to the cost associated with their healthcare plan.
· Clearly document the source of benefit verifications and all communications with insurance representatives, patients, staff members, referring doctors or other people authorized to discuss a patient’s account.
· Effectively communicate benefit information with both patients and staff.
· Monitor schedule changes in order to ensure benefit information is available prior to scheduled appointments.
· Provide prior authorizations / pre determinations for planned and emergent procedures.
· Answer inquiries from patients, insurance companies, and healthcare providers regarding billing issues.
· Prepare and submit claims to insurance companies.
· Follow up on unpaid or denied claims as assigned.
· Maintain patient billing records and update information as needed.
· Review patient bills for accuracy and completeness; obtain missing information.
. Maintain patient confidentiality at all times.
Minimum Requirements & Qualifications
· Education: High school Diploma or equivalent.
· One year of related patient/insurance service experience in a health care setting.
· Proficiency with EMR, internet, email and data entry.
· Strong math skills.
· Demonstrated attention to detail.
· Ability to communicate effectively with team members, patients and third parties.
· Problem solving, organizational and prioritizing skills to complete work in a timely manner.

Pay: $15.00 - $24.00 per hour
Expected hours: 36 – 40 per week
