Medical Front Office Phone Representative

Front Office Phone representative needed for busy Ophthalmology Practice in Spring Branch area.

Summary:

We are a well-established, well-respected provider of Ophthalmology services with multiple locations in the Houston area. We are known for our superior customer service and dedication to providing patients with the best experience and outcomes for their vision needs.

The Front Office Phone Representative will be expected to provide the following core services and have the appropriate skills to complete these services.

This is a part-time position, four days per week (Monday - Thursday). May work at multiple locations.

Selected Responsibilities:

• Answers incoming and inter-office calls, schedules appointments and triages calls as necessary; schedules incoming fax referrals
• Updates information in electronic patient charts as needed
• Verifies and enters demographic and insurance information in the practice management system
• Reviews Phone messages and faxes, returns calls and answers correspondence as soon as possible. Completes daily calling report.
• Creates, maintains, scans, files and retrieves patient charts
• Scans in records for upcoming appointments and electronically files to EHR
• Follows all company policies and procedures
• Other duties as assigned

Qualifications/Experience:

• High School diploma or equivalent
• Minimum of 2 years’ experience in a medical office setting, with previous experience in customer service and records management needed
• Knowledge of basic medical terminology, HIPAA and OSHA
• Knowledge of NextGen EHR or similar application
• Knowledgeable of Microsoft office software, the Internet and other software products as needed; general office equipment
• Outstanding customer service skills; excellent communication skills
• Able to organize and manage large volumes of data and records
• Pays close attention to detail

Physical Characteristics:

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to sit for extended periods of time, bend, squat, and kneel as necessary. The employee must occasionally lift and/or move up to 25 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception and ability to adjust focus. Auditory acuity should be sufficient as to adequately monitor patient and visitor activity.
