The Senior Buyer role is an ONSITE position that will report directly to the Supply Chain Manager at our Medical Device contract manufacturing company in Indianapolis, IN.

Senior Buyer Overview
You have the awesome responsibility of leading strategic sourcing, quoting and supplier development. As the Senior Buyer you will be heavily involved in new product introductions and arranging the distribution outlets and keeping up to date with potential changes that may affect the supply and demand for products and materials. Purchasing metals for disposable instrumentation in Medical Devices.
You will identify sources, complete RFQs and negotiations for new and existing components and services while ensuring all customer specifications are being met. Places and manages purchase orders in MRP for development parts & services, tooling, and initial production orders ensuring compliance with existing policies and procedures. Building strong relationships with suppliers to ensure cost, quality, and delivery targets are achieved is important in this role.
Basic Background Requirements
- 5+ years demonstrated success within the purchasing environment.
- Bachelor degree in Supply Chain, Business, Engineering or equivalent experience in the appropriate field.
- Strong working knowledge of MRP/ERP, including purchasing, inventory management, forecasting & Bill of Materials.
- Experience with purchasing metals and tooling a plus.
- Experience with ISO13485- Medical Devices a must.
Short Term: (0 to 3 months)
- Learn about Kimball Vision and Guiding Principles to lead development of appropriate ‘people’ growth & development practices
- Learn the quality system and production requirements
- Develop solid relationships with internal/external customers, and vendors
- Works with agreements and helping to launch KPI’s within the department
Midterm: (3 to 6 months)
- Proficient with KEIND requirements for materials and suppliers
- Works effectively independently and with a team while interacting with all departments
- Analyze trends, sales records and inventory levels of current stock and offer suggestions for improvements
- Enhances department and organization by collaborating with internal and external customers
Long Term: 6-12 months +
- Works independently with minimal supervision
- Provides enhancements or continuous improvement ideas to help the department and the campus get better
