We are seeking a highly skilled and detail-oriented Coding Specialist to join our team. The Coding Specialist supports the Company’s Accounts Receivable efforts by ensuring that all claims are submitted accurately and timely through the clearinghouse and to the patients. This role works collaboratively with others to ensure that the Company receives payment for services rendered and that the billing function runs efficiently.
Core Job Duties & Responsibilities
- Facilitate revenue collection by generating claims for transmission to insurance payers and patients
- Review documentation and ensure the claims are coded and accurately reflect services performed per the documentation and correct coding guidelines
- Few Rejected claims to correct errors and complete submission
- Communicate issues with documentation to the provider for resolution
- Answer inquiries related to billing process.
- Other duties, as assigned
Job Requirements and Qualifications:
Education/Experience:
- High school diploma or equivalent- Required;
- Associate’s or Bachelor’s degree- Preferred
- Two or more years experience in a medical billing office
- Mental Health Preferred
- Experience in eCW preferred
Licenses/Certifications:
- Medical coder certification-Required
- CPC or AHIMA
Knowledge, Skills, & Abilities
- Working knowledge of common office computer programs; Word, Excel, Internet
- Complete understanding of insurance benefits
- Knowledge of HIPAA rules related to patient billing
- Well versed in CPT medical codes
- Must be able to work independently and multi task
- Have ability to communicate effectively and assertively while demonstrating compassion and empathy for patient’s individual situations
- Collaborative and team oriented
- Highly organized and detail oriented
- Verbal and written communication skills
- Strong customer focus
- Flexible, adaptable, and able to move between tasks regularly
Physical Requirements
- This is an office-based and primarily sedentary role with minimal physical requirements.
