Additional Eligibility Qualifications: Supervises and performs duties in the medical records department. Monitors the coding and coders work volumes and accuracy. Oversees quality improvement, hiring, evaluation and supervision, etc. with the correlation of the Medical Coding Manager. Familiar with with a variety of the field's concepts, practices and procedures. Relies on experience and judgment to plan and accomplish goals. Performs a variety of tasks to include coordinating vacations and payroll system. Leads and directs the work of others. A wide degree of creativity and latitude is expected. Must possess strong analytical and research capabilities to assist Medical Coding Manager. Supervisory experience preferred. Good problem solving skills and the ability to communicate clearly in writing and verbally are essential.
Essential Functions
Functions as mentor/trainer for all coding staff and support team members. Knowledgeable in all job roles.
Coordinates work assignments and staffing in the Medical Coding department.
Runs daily budget report every morning and runs production reports once a month and evaluates for trends and brings to the Manager's attention. Back up for the TES EVAL.
Assumes responsibility for staffing issues for entire department during absence of the Manager.
Reviews ETM outlook reports [and MedAptus and identifies opportunities and advises the coders how to prioritize.
Approves and submits department time records to Accounting weekly. Responsible for reviewing and approving time off requests. Responsible for completing employee evaluations in a timely manner
