As a Medical Coder you will be responsible for coding for insurance claims and databases. The position will display self-sufficiency, motivation, be detail-oriented and have outstanding communication skills that help them navigate any situation with ease. Ultimately, the Medical Coder will provide high-level analysis of medical records and execution of coding skills in a fast paced environment. This position requires maintaining a current certification through the AAPC or AHIMA. The Medical Coder is expected to meet specific quotas and deadlines while maintaining coding integrity.

Job Highlights
- Required: 1-2 years professional medical coding experience (CPT, ICD10, HCPCS)
- Required: Coding certification through the AAPC or AHIMA
- Preferred: Specialty coding in one or more of the following: inpatient stays (including critical care), emergency medicine, cardiology, orthopedic surgery or general surgery.
- Preferred: 1 year experience in Epic.
- Preferred: Prior experience working for a medical billing/coding entity a plus!
Responsibilities and Key Components
- Responsible for accurate coding and abstracting of medical information for billing and statistical purposes and entering the information into Epic.
- Ensure timely coding and completion of patient accounts to meet established department standards and/or goals.
- Maintains 95% accuracy or greater in accordance with department standards.
- Advanced knowledge of medical coding rules and regulations to include, but not limited to, compliance, CMS regulation and CCI
- Attends meetings as required.
- Is respectful and courteous to all people, including coworkers and clients.
- Able to work independently as the job is remote.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills
- Displays positive attitude and team spirit by being willing to assist wherever needed.
- High School Diploma or equivalent.
- Completion of a formal course of study in medical terminology, disease processes, anatomy and physiology
- Completion of a formal course of study in medical coding and regulatory compliance.
Licensure/Certification
- REQUIRED: Coding certification through AHIMA (RHIA, RHIT, CCS, CCS-P, CCA) or AAPC (CPC, COC, CEMC)
