Medical Billing Specialist

We are seeking a Medical Billing Specialist with at least 5 years of recent experience as a medical biller to provide billing services to our multiple clinics. We provide substance use disorder treatment and mental health treatment.

Must have proficiency with KAREO (TEBRA) that is active/recent.

Responsibilities include:

• Preparing and submitting billing data and medical claims to insurance companies.
• Ensuring the patient’s medical and insurance information is accurate and up to date.
• Timely follow up of billed claims and rejections with aggressive denial/rejection management through correcting claims and rebilling.
• Timely posting of payments and follow up on EOBs.
• Collecting and reviewing referrals and pre-authorizations.
• Monitoring and recording late payments.
• Following up on missed payments and resolving financial discrepancies, including copays and co-insurance.
• Examining patient bills for accuracy and requesting any missing information.
• Helping patients make payments; and developing payment plans for those who are not able to pay entire balance.
• Maintaining billing software by updating rate change, cash spreadsheets, and current collection reports.

Experience:

• Minimum of 5 years of recent experience (within the last year) in Medical Billing field.
• Proficiency in medical terminology, insurance claims and billing procedures.
• Proficiency in billing software, EMR systems, and clearinghouses.
• Proficiency in the use of third-party payor sites for verification of active insurance and covered benefits.
• Strong attention to detail and accuracy in the billing processes.
• Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal.
• Ability to work independently and as part of a team.

Preference will be given to candidates who are familiar with KAREO/TEBRA, as well as Medicare, commercial insurances, and Medicaid (particularly in NV and WA.)

Note: This is a 1099 independent contractor position.

Pay: $48,000.00 - $60,000.00 per year
