Job Summary: The Medical Assistant/Special Education Paraprofessional - PCA performs routine administrative and clinical tasks under the direction of the Licensed School Nurse (LSN). The MA/PCA will assist the LSN in efficiently operating school health services. The MA/PCA job tasks include but are not limited to maintaining a safe, confidential, and healthy work environment while providing daily health care for students. The MA/PCA will adhere to school board policy and procedures and work within their professional certification and scope of practice. The MA/PCA will provide care for students with ongoing medical conditions in compliance with the student's plan of care and as directed by the LSN. Duties may also include the administering and documenting medications, providing first aid and responding to medical emergencies. The MA/PCA maintains student health records in compliance with data privacy laws.
Qualifications:
High School diploma or GED equivalent required.
MA/PCA certification required.
Current CPR and First Aid certification required.
Regular, on-time attendance required.
Experience with medication administration is strongly encouraged.
Flexibility and willingness to work as a cooperative team member.
Strong communication and interpersonal skills with ability to communicate with students, staff, and parents/caregivers.
Ability to recognize job limitations.
Good organizational and computer skills to perform routine use of email, Microsoft Word, Excel, and Google drive.
Physical requirement: Must be able to lift up to 50 pounds. Stooping and bending required.
