Overview:
Inland Pain Medicine is a leading medical practice located in Palm Desert, California, specializing in pain management and comprehensive patient care. We are currently seeking a skilled and compassionate Medical Assistant to join our dynamic team. The ideal candidate will provide crucial support to our medical professionals and ensure exceptional patient experiences.
Responsibilities:
- Patient Care: Assist physicians and nurses in delivering high-quality patient care during clinic visits, procedures, and treatments.
- Vital Signs: Record and monitor patients' vital signs, including blood pressure, pulse rate, temperature, and oxygen saturation.
- Medical History: Obtain and update patients' medical history, medication lists, allergies, and other relevant information accurately.
- Assist in Procedures: Prepare patients and assist healthcare providers during examinations, injections, and minor surgical procedures.
- Patient Education: Educate patients and their families about medications, treatments, and post-procedure care instructions as directed by healthcare providers.
- Documentation: Maintain electronic health records (EHR) accurately, documenting patient assessments, procedures, test results, and medication administration.
- Lab and Diagnostic Tests: Collect specimens, perform basic laboratory tests (such as urine dipsticks), and coordinate with external laboratories for more complex tests.
- Medication Management: Administer medications (oral, topical, and injections) as per physician orders and maintain medication inventory and expiration dates.
- Sterilization and Equipment Maintenance: Ensure proper sterilization of medical instruments, maintain exam rooms and equipment cleanliness, and manage medical waste disposal.
- Patient Follow-Up: Conduct follow-up calls or communications with patients to monitor progress, review lab results, and schedule follow-up appointments.
Qualifications:
- Education: Completion of an accredited Medical Assistant program or relevant certification (CMA, RMA, CCMA, etc.).
- Experience: Previous experience as a Medical Assistant in a clinical setting, preferably in pain management or related specialties.
- Clinical Skills: Proficient in taking vital signs, performing EKGs, venipuncture, medication administration, and basic wound care.
- EMR Proficiency: Familiarity with electronic medical records (EMR) systems; experience with systems like EPIC, Cerner, or Meditech is desirable.
- Communication: Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to interact effectively with patients, families, and healthcare team members.
- Organization: Strong multitasking abilities, attention to detail, and ability to work efficiently in a fast-paced environment.
- Compliance: Knowledge of HIPAA regulations and medical office policies and procedures.
- Certifications: Current CPR/BLS certification is required; additional certifications such as phlebotomy or IV therapy may be beneficial.

Available shifts and compensation: Available shifts all days except Sundays and Saturdays. Compensation is $18.00 - $22.00/hour.
