SalaryTorrance Memorial Physician Network is looking for a motivated Medical Assistant to join our Hunt Cancer Center team. Applicants must have completed a Medical Assisting program; certification is preferred.
Primary duties include but are not limited to:
- Preparing patients for physician examination by performing standard patient intake which includes taking and recording patients' height and weight, vitals, reporting patient’s history summary, labs, and reconciling medication(s)
- Provides phone support to patients and coordinates follow-up care for post-discharge visits
- Collects patient information by interviewing patient, recording medical history, confirming the purpose of the visit
- Performs administration of medication ordered by practicing physician or nurse practitioner
- Documents all communication with patient, pharmacies, insurance companies, or outside agencies in the patient's chart
Requirements:
- A High School Diploma or GED
- A Medical Assistant Certificate/Diploma
- A valid CPR card
- Oncology or Hematology experience is a plus
