JOB TITLE:Medical Assistant Lead
GENERAL SUMMARY OF DUTIES: Assist in the supervision of work and performance of Medical Assistant staff and associated functions in the clinic setting.
LOCATION: Gainesville and Lake City
REPORTS TO: Reports to Clinical Director
FLSA STATUS: Non-exempt, full-time
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
  1. Assist in the supervision of work and performance of Medical Assistants as instructed.
  2. Oversee and train new and existing staff.
  3. Assist with maintaining monthly staffing schedule.
  4. Keeps equipment operating by following operating instructions; troubleshooting breakdowns; maintaining supplies; performing preventive maintenance; calling for repairs.
  5. Keeps supplies ready by doing a regular inventory of stock; placing orders; verifying receipt; completing quarterly inventory counts.
  6. Assists patients by providing information, services, and assistance.
  7. Verifies patient information by interviewing patient, recording medical history and confirming purpose of visit.
  8. Prepares patients for examination by performing preliminary physical exams; taking and recording blood pressure, height, weight, 12-lead EKG and following the wound protocol as needed.
  9. Answer messages and tasks in a timely manner; refilling prescriptions as directed by a provider.
  10. Maintains medical supplies inventory and performing preventive maintenance to keep medical equipment operational.
  11. Keeps exam rooms and work areas clean, tidy and stocked each day.
  12. Secures patient information and maintains patient confidentially by completing and safeguarding medical records.
  13. Serves and protects the practice by adhering to professional standards; facility policies and procedures; and federal, state and local requirements.
  14. Maintains safe, secure and healthy work environment by establishing and following standards and procedures and complying with legal regulation.
  15. Enhances practice reputation by accepting ownership for accomplishing new and different requests, and exploring opportunities to add value to job accomplishments.
  16. Performs other duties as required.
The job holder must demonstrate current competencies applicable to the job position.
EDUCATION: Medical Assistant Certificate or completion of an accredited medical assisting program or other Allied Health program / degree.
EXPERIENCE: Prior supervisory experience preferred, but not required.
REQUIREMENTS: CPR or BLS required.

ENVIRONMENTAL / WORKING CONDITIONS: Combination of office, exam and other clinical settings. Some travel required to satellite office. Frequent exposure to communicable diseases, toxic substances, ionizing radiation, medicinal preparations and other conditions common to a clinic environment.
PHYSICAL/MENTAL DEMANDS: Requires sitting, standing and walking for extensive periods of time. Occasionally lifts and carries items weighting up to 50 pounds. Requires corrected vision and hearing to a normal range. Requires full range of body motion including handling and lifting patients, manual and finger dexterity and eye-hand conditions. Occasional stressful situations, irregular hours.
