CMHA is looking to hire a Medical Assistant II. This position will be located in New Britain.
Position Summary: The Medical Assistant provides administrative and clinical support to medical staff by performing various responsibilities inclusive of clinical and clerical duties to ensure effective client service and optimum levels of client volume and flow while meeting all licensure and accreditation requirements.
- Assist with directing Medical Assistants and other support staff to ensure that all duties are being fulfilled.
- Obtains vital signs and weight. Documents and monitors all results in the EHR system.
- Coordinates the lab preparation, collection and pick up of toxicology screening, supervises clients in the direct (observation) and indirect urine collection process as appropriate under the direction of the APRN/MD.
- Gathers authorization of release of protected health information from all external medical providers. Acts as liaison between CMHA prescribers and external providers to coordinate care, through information sharing; arranging diagnostic testing, medical examinations, visiting nurse service and laboratory work. Obtains prior authorizations with insurance companies.
- Provide customer service through appointment scheduling and coordination of transportation as needed.
- Facilitates medication refill requests through coordination with pharmacy
Requirements:
- Minimum of 2 years of experience working with adults with substance abuse/behavioral health problems in a medical office setting.
- Valid DMV License
- High School Diploma or GED
- RMA or CMA Certification
- Beginner to intermediate experience with Microsoft Office products including Word and Outlook
Preferred qualifications:
- Bilingual in English and Spanish
- Experience in an Electronic Medical Record (EMR) system
COMPENSATION RANGE- $18-$22 an hour plus $1 differential for being bilingual
