Description
Performs clinical duties in the Rural Health Clinics under the direction of the practice manager and physician supervision. Responsible for rooming patients, obtaining and documenting vital signs, administering injections and medications (must be certified), performing EKGs and other point-of-care testing and treatments, triaging phone calls and electronic messages, and performing check-out duties. Responsible for promoting teamwork with all members of the healthcare team.

Duties/Responsibilities:
• Helps patients by providing information, services, and assistance related to their healthcare needs.
• Verifies patient information by interviewing the patient, recording medical history, and confirming the purpose of the visit by performing preliminary physical tests; taking vital signs, weight, and temperature; and reporting patient history summary.
• Secures patient information and maintains patient confidentiality by completing and safeguarding medical records.
• Advises patients of physician's orders and answering applicable questions.
• Aids in scheduling appointments and ensures clinic is running on time.
• Updates job knowledge by participating in educational opportunities and reading professional publications.
• Maintains a safe, secure, and healthy work environment by adhering to professional standards; facility policies and procedures; as well as federal, state, and local requirements.
• Administers prescribed medications, calls in prescriptions to the pharmacy, and maintains related medical records under the supervision of the practice manager or physician supervision.
• Conduct medical screenings such as depression, tobacco, substance abuse, etc.
• Catalogs and communicates patient needs to the PCP, Clinician, Specialist, and/or other clinical personnel.
• Prepares patients for examinations and performs routine screening tests; assists physicians with exams; explains treatment procedures and physicians' instructions to patients.
• Observes patients and reports any changes in patient conditions to the PCP, Clinician, Specialist, and/or other clinical personnel.
• Perform non-critical medical and therapeutic procedures based on medical instructions. Collects phlebotomy and other lab specimens (must be certified); performs basic waived lab tests.
• Changes dressings, applies bandages and other first aid procedures; uses CPR skills when necessary, all under practice manager or physician supervision.
• Performs other duties as assigned.
Education and Experience:
• High school diploma or equivalent
• Certified Medical Technician certification
• Experience working with all age groups.
• Medical clearance for communicable diseases and up-to-date immunizations, before having direct participant contact.
• BLS certified.
Physical Requirements:
• Prolonged periods sitting at a desk and working on a computer.
• Must be able to lift up to 50 pounds at times.
• Must be able to navigate various departments of the organization's physical premises.
