Education:
- High School diploma/equivalent.
- Graduate of an accredited Medical Assistant program (MA, CMA or RMA), current LPN licensure in the State of Wisconsin, or graduate of an accredited EMT program.
- Current CPR certification required within 6 months of hire and maintained while employed.
Experience: Prefer a minimum of 1 year of CMA, RMA or LPN experience; demonstrates keyboarding skill and computer knowledge - experience with EPIC system a plus.
Position Summary:
- Understands and supports the AHC mission, vision, guiding principles and standards of behavior.
- Assist the physician/provider with all activities related to a patient/provider encounter.
- This includes activities prior to, as a result of, and after the encounter.
- Working on inbound/outbound health-line calls, entering encounters and voicemails.
- Supports the clinic team as a whole in all capacities as needed.
- Is flexible and willing to change same day job duty responsibilities with little notice.
- All AHC employees are responsible to participate in quality and process improvement activities.

Essential duties:
- Follows provider's orders to ensure complete and accurate information is given to patients.
- Collecting and processing specimens and prepares and administers medications.
- Rooms patients and performs pre-visit checks (vital signs, weight, etc.). Sets up for procedures and assists provider as needed during procedure. Ensures exam/immunization/procedure rooms are stocked and ready to use each day.
- Ensures all policies, procedures, practice standards and the Care Model Process are followed and used. Actively and accurately utilizes the pre-visit planning process.
- Works well with clinic staff and others throughout AHC. Is pleasant, respectful, caring and responsive when dealing with patients and staff. Attendance meets acceptable criteria (minimal unplanned absenteeism). Versatility in knowledge, skills and ability to work cross-functionally. Demonstrates willingness and flexibility to assist other departments as needs arise or opportunities exist. (e.g. Satellite clinics, UC, Float positions etc.)
- Demonstrates knowledge and understanding of the in-basket processes. (e.g. refills, results), using appropriate routing and flagging. Communicates with patients professionally and in a timely fashion. Ensures proper and prompt documentation of patient interactions and calls. Demonstrates positive verbal communication and listening skills with providers, patients and peers.
- Keeps supplies ready by inventorying stock and placing orders. Or adding supplies to an ordering sheet if they are needed.
- Patients and their records are handled in a private and confidential manner per AHC policy.
