Description
Reporting directly to the CFO, the Medicaid Pending Coordinator ensures exceptional customer service and tracking/managing of all Medicaid applications for residents of Immanuel Living ("IL"), in addition to other duties as assigned. The incumbent interacts with residents, families, and staff at all levels in a fast-paced environment, sometimes under pressure, while remaining dependable, flexible, proactive, resourceful, and efficient, with a high level of professionalism and confidentiality. This is a temporary, part-time position.
DUTIES:
• Work safely, set an example of thorough and thoughtful compliance with safety activities.
• Track/manage all Medicaid applications
• Assist with insurance approvals for new admits as needed
• Assist in the follow up of unpaid claims utilizing monthly aging reports and filing appeals.
• Competently work with computer systems and medical billing software.
• Complete RAC audits, when necessary
• Regularly track the status of all pending Medicaid applications and work with families accordingly
• Provide superior customer service to customers when reviewing inquiries, including timely follow up
• Meet with the Chief Financial Officer and Executive Director at least monthly to review aging and identify any potential collection issues, and to determine and implement actions to ensure timely collections
• Perform follow up procedures on past due accounts, including individual contact with residents, patients and/or families and communication with attorneys and or collection agencies as individual situations warrant
• Ensure timely record keeping
• Role model the Hospitality concept in work products and in all interactions with Residents and Guests, coworkers, Board members and others
• Exercise discretion and independent judgment
• Abide by departmental and Immanuel Livings' policies and procedures
• Be predictably present during regular work hours.
• Serve as a role model of the Immanuel Spirit
• Cross-train and serve as back-up to payroll when necessary
• Performs additional job duties as necessary and/or assigned
Requirements
QUALIFICATIONS:
• Associates Degree in Accounting or Business Administration. Education may be waived based on success with skilled nursing billing/accounts payable with previous employer(s)
• Minimum of 3 years in CCRC and/or healthcare billing experience in a complex, skilled nursing center billing environment including Medicare Parts A & B, HMO's, Managed Care Organizations (MCO's) and Medicaid
• Extensive experience with Medicaid application process required
• Understanding and willingness to grow and learn Microsoft Office and other necessary software's
• Willingness to educate others on processes and/or software and tools related to billing
• Ability to be flexible and to adapt to change
• Ability to create positive first impressions with residents & guests, employees, Board members, volunteers, and the public.
• Ability to work independently and to develop and monitor projects from beginning to end, with a demonstrated ability to meet deadlines
• Ability to deal tactfully with others
