Responsibilities:
  • The Media Monitoring Specialist will support the National Cherry Blossom Festival’s Marketing and Communications Department, which is responsible for branding initiatives, the Festival’s website and social media channels, marketing the Festival’s events and programs, and external relations, including working with the press, publications, and advertising. Campaign Execution

    • Support the Festival by reviewing newsclips every day (M-F) in search of all news articles, radio spots and TV mentions that include listings of our sponsors and the Festival.
    • Produce daily news clips each morning every day (M-F) by 11:00 a.m. ET. With context given for the mentions included and the frequency.
  • The duties listed above are intended only as illustrations of the various types of work that may be performed. The omission of specific statements of duties does not exclude them from the position if the work is similar, related, or a logical assignment to the position.

Requirements:
  • Time Requirements
    • Part-Time Contract Role – March 2024 to June 2024.
    • Attend weekly meetings with key team members as needed, virtually or in-person
    • Ability to work in a hybrid office environment
    • Evening and weekend availability to follow through on executing key Festival programs in March and April 2024
  • Qualifications

    • At least 2 years of experience in developing compelling longform written content such as scripts, news articles, remarks, and writing for advertisements.
    • Passion for news and a self-starter with an attention to detail to ensure the right news clips are pulled.
    • Creative and collaborative work style with ability to work independently and under pressure
    • Ability to craft timely, accurate, and concise communications tailored to a variety of audiences
    • Adaptable and agile: can organize multiple work assignments and set priorities, meet deadlines, and adjust to changing priorities within a fast-paced environment
    • Ethical, tactful, and diplomatic approach with a strong service mindset
    • Strong relationship management skills
  • Additional Requirements

    • The selected candidate is asked to use their personal devices (e.g., laptop) to complete work remotely – login credentials will be provided for required software, and desktop devices are available onsite at the office for contractor use.
