          Pay Grade/Pay Range: 57 Hourly (non-exempt) - Minimum - $ 17.35 Midpoint - $ 25.33


          Department/Organization: 214141 - Eng Services - Maintenance


          Normal Work Schedule: Monday - Wednesday 8:00am to 6:30pm; Thursday 9:15am to 6:30pm (days are subject to change based on departmental needs)


          Job Summary: Provides support for research and instructional programs by fabrication, maintenance and repair of laboratory instruments and other related duties.


          Additional Department Summary: The College of Engineering Machinist works with minimum supervision to address a variety of student project support and research support. Machining of steel, aluminum, other metals and materials as needed. Reads mechanical drawings. Oversees and assists students using shop equipment and various other fabrication tools. Assists other machinists as needed on various projects.


          Required Minimum Qualifications: High school diploma or equivalent and five (5) years of experience working as a mechanician or machinist; OR Vocational/Technical/Trade certificate and four (4) years of experience working as a mechanician or machinist; OR Associate's degree and three (3) years of experience working as a mechanician or machinist; or Bachelor's degree and one (1) year of experience working as a mechanician or machinist. Ability to use the tools and equipment of the job. Ability to work from blueprints and sketches.


          Skills and Knowledge: Knowledge of welding and soldering of steel, brass, copper and stainless steel. Knowledge of materials such as steel, brass, copper, stainless steel, wood, etc. is required. Demonstrated ability to read drawings and follow verbal and written instructions. Must be able to lift, handle and maneuver the tools, materials, and supplies of the job. Must be able to perform welding and soldering. Ability to use job-related tools and equipment, including lathes, drill presses, power saws, routers, plainer, sanders, pipe threaders, grinders, polishers, sharpers, taps, dyes, etc.


          Preferred Qualifications: Experience with CNC machines that includes but not limited to Router, Plasma, Lathe and Mill. Knowledge of CAD/CAM software (MasterCAM Solidworks etc.).
