The Mechanical/Industrial Engineering intern position will work with the Process Center IPT in the Melbourne, FL facility. This position is for an Mechanical/Process/Industrial Engineering student interested in gaining hands-on experience in manufacturing engineering methods and techniques used in manufacturing. If selected, the co-op will become familiar with Surface Mount Technology and/or Through Hole processes as well as methods to Measure, Analyze, and Improve upon these processes. This position is full-time, Monday-Friday, and will run May/June to December; it is only eligible for current students with a graduation date past December 2024.

Primary Responsibilities:
  • Production floor support for production processes
  • Assist in various IE-related projects (i.e. Time Study projects involving Work Measurement, creation and validation of Time Standards, Facilities Re-layout, Lean)
  • Apply Lean principles including 5S, Standard Work, and flow
  • Work with IEs and Production Managers to find and correct inefficiencies, resulting in improved productivity.
  • Develop cost-benefit comparisons of alternate methods, processes, layouts, parts, tooling, or equipment
Basic Qualifications:
  • Requires a High School Diploma or equivalent and student must be pursuing a Bachelor's or advanced degree in an applicable discipline.
  • U.S. citizenship is required, as only U.S. citizens are authorized to access information under this program/contract.
