SSSD has an opening for a Mechanical Technician 4 to join our team of qualified, diverse individuals. This position will be in Redondo Beach, California.
The ideal candidate will have experience performing a variety of machinist responsibilities, which may include but are not limited to the following:
Must be capable of manufacturing complex close tolerance machined hardware in various exotic materials, from Titanium, Invar, Kovar, Inconel, Macor, Fiberglass Epoxy, Aluminum, etc. Programming in Mastercam version 2020 or higher, and Esprit creating geometry, or using Solid Models, IGES, STEP, DXF files. Must have experience programming a 6-axis Mill-Turn machine, along with a high-speed machining background. The applicant should also be well versed in Geometric Dimensioning and Tolerance per ANSI 14.5M 1982/1994 specifications to interpret actual position and tolerance requirements. Capable of programming, setting up, and operating a DMG CLX450, Mazak I300S, or similar Mill-Turn machines. Have the ability to program, setup and operate a CNC two-axis lathe with live tooling. The applicant must have a background in conventional equipment and can use the needed inspection tools to inspect manufactured hardware to the blueprint specification. Able to work with little or no direct supervision. Willingness to work overtime when required to satisfy customer requirements. Experience with CNC Milling machines is a plus.

This position's standard work schedule is a 9/80. The 9/80 schedule allows employees who work a nine-hour day Monday through Thursday to take every other Friday off.
Basic Qualifications:
- AA/AS Degree plus five years of experience as a CNC Programmer / Machinist or High School Diploma/GED and ten years of experience as a CNC Programmer / Machinist.
- Five years of experience in programming skills using Mastercam, Smartcam, or GIBBS is required.
- Experience in the aerospace industry as a machinist
- Experience programming, setup, and then producing parts with minimum supervision
- Experience manufacturing complex tolerance machined hardware in various exotic materials, from Titanium, Invar, Kovar, Stainless, Aluminum, etc.
- Experience in multi-axis turning.
- Experience in high-speed machining.
- Conventional machining background
- Proven ability to work in a team environment.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Experience with CNC Mazak, DMG Mill-Turn, and Haas CNC Lathe
- Experience with Esprit, Mastercam, Vericut, NX, Catia5, and AutoCAD
- Excellent communication skills.
- Able to grind tooling for needed projects.
Salary Range: $73,200.00 - $122,000.00
The above salary range represents a general guideline; however, Northrop Grumman considers a number of factors when determining base salary offers such as the scope and responsibilities of the position and the candidate's experience, education, skills and current market conditions.
Employees may be eligible for a discretionary bonus in addition to base pay. Annual bonuses are designed to reward individual contributions as well as allow employees to share in company results. Employees in Vice President or Director positions may be eligible for Long Term Incentives.
