Job Description
Knickerbocker Group is seeking a creative and passionate individual to join our team as a full-time, licensed Mechanical Engineer. The Mechanical Engineer works with all the Knickerbocker design teams to support project design at all phases. The ideal candidate will have 5+ years’ experience in residential HVAC system design. While we would prefer this individual to work out of our Boothbay or Brunswick offices, we will consider a Portland base or remote arrangement for the right candidate.
Knickerbocker Group is an employee-owned (ESOP), award-winning design-build firm offering architecture, landscape architecture, interior design, property management, and construction services for custom homes and commercial spaces throughout Maine.
Primary responsibilities include:
- Provide initial HVAC assessment of proposed design concepts.
- Provide comprehensive mechanical systems design for projects in development, coordinating with site conditions, structural components, and key design goals as relayed by the lead Architect/Designer.
- Use creative skills, imagination, and artistic talent to contemplate each design and make sure our houses/buildings are the best they can possibly be.
- Assist in drafting the mechanical system aspects of a design as practicable.
- Travel and visit construction sites as needed to evaluate existing conditions and/or review new work.
- Attend project team meetings when prudent.
- Collaborate and consult with architects, interior designers, construction managers and field crews, as required to support the design, estimating and construction efforts.
- Function in a client-facing role for all assigned projects, including management and oversight of subcontracted outside engineering firms.
Required education, experience, and technical knowledge:
- Undergraduate degree in mechanical engineering required.
- Mechanical Engineering license required.
- 5 - 10 years of experience in residential mechanical system engineering required including but not limited to radiant, forced air, hydronic & electric radiator, heat-pump, ventilation, and make-up air systems; experience in construction a plus.
- Technology proficiency:
- Microsoft Office Suite required.
- AutoCAD preferred.
- Revit preferred.
