Mechanical Engineering Co-Op

JOB SUMMARY

This role is well suited for ambitious, creative students looking to expand their mechanical engineering knowledge by real world application of mechanical design principals.

Examples of experiences as a PMD Mechanical Engineering Co-Op might include:

• Concept innovative ways to solve unique automation challenges
• Design electromechanical machines and fixtures to meet customer requirements
• Create fabrication drawings and Bills of Materials for electromechanical machines and fixtures.
• Participate in Brainstorming meetings to develop unique solutions to automation challenges
• Help in building, troubleshooting, and documenting electromechanical and robotic machines and fixtures
• Perform proof of process tests and document results.
• Develop and revise existing standard designs
• Develop and revise standard engineering library components

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS

• Assist in the design of mechanisms, stations, machines using 3D modeling software (SolidWorks).
• Create detailed fabrication drawings for all custom designed parts
• Create detailed assembly drawings identifying each individual component
• Release completed designs to Project Management
• Work in a collaborative environment to make sure the designs developed are the most cost effective and will meet the customer’s requirements
• Create a complete Bill of Material for each design/station.
• Support fabrication, assembly, debug and machine qualification activities to ensure design conforms to customer requirements and specifications
• Observe Safety procedures.
