Job Title: Adjunct Instructor- Mechanical and Aerospace EngineeringFLSA Status: ExemptDepartment: Mechanical and Aerospace EngineeringTitle of Manager/Supervisor: ChairNumber of Employees Reporting to this Position:Range: $5,500- $6,500 per class based on experiencePosition Summary:Clarkson University is a nationally recognized research university with signature areas of academic excellence and research directed toward the world's pressing issues. One in five alumni already leads as an owner, CEO, VP or equivalent senior executive of a company.The Mechanical and Aerospace Engineering (MAE) at Clarkson University invites applicants to apply for the position of MAE Adjunct Instructor.The MAE Program seeks Adjunct Instructors to teach courses supporting undergraduate Mechanical and Aerospace Engineering programs. The MAE Program at Clarkson offers classes across the full spectrum of technical areas in Mechanical and Aerospace Engineering (see https://www.clarkson.edu/academics/schools-colleges/engineering/mechanical-aerospace for more information). Faculty selected for these positions will provide instruction for existing courses and courses that are developed to support the program at the undergraduate level. These Adjunct Instructors may also be asked to provide co-curricular support to the program through its many activities. Adjunct Instructors will be asked to teach courses so that they can be taken through digital learning as well as in a traditional classroom.Minimum qualifications include at least a master’s degree in Mechanical and/or Aerospace Engineering. Specific areas of technical competency include Fundamentals of Aerospace Engineering; Introduction to engineering design; Dynamical systems; Aerospace structures; Orbital mechanics; Statics; Strength of materials; Heat transfer; Aerodynamics, or an allied/related field. Successful candidates will have strong communication skills, three (3) years’ experience preferred; and a proven track record in teaching or a willingness to learn new teaching techniques. Minimal Qualifications: Successful candidates will have an MS in Mechanical and/or Aerospace Engineering, or related field. Preferred Qualifications: Three (3) years of experience preferred. A MS degree and a Professional Engineering license (or other industry related credentials) are preferred. Previous teaching experience is desirable/preferred.Physical Demands:
