Job Description
The Mechanical Engineer is responsible for the engineering, designing and estimating cost of projects and securing quotations. Will research, develop, design and test a wide range of machinery, both as standard products and with custom features, according to requirements of individual customers. Uses independent judgment and exercises discretion in executing their duties.
Essential Functions:
1. Prepare designs, sketches, layouts, and schematics as part of a design team.
2. Estimate projects including material costs and labor costs. Secure quotations.
3. Report equipment problems and unsafe practices. Attend engineering, safety, and production meetings.
4. Will write, revise, record, and budget A.R. expenditures. Evaluate stores inventory, approve invoices, and write requisitions.
5. Schedule job installations and expedite equipment delivery.
6. Evaluate and review new procedures and store requisitions.
7. Inspect job installations; equipment operations and safety; and new equipment.
8. Supervise contractors and hourly workers on projects. Provide technical assistance to the Maintenance Department. Instruct new equipment operators and maintenance personnel.
9. Will engineer and design equipment and systems; write procedures and equipment specifications.
10. Will assume other duties and responsibilities as required.
Required Education and Experience/Skills:
1. Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering preferred and/or equivalent combination of education, experience and training that provides the required knowledge, skills, and abilities to perform the essential functions of this position.
2. 3+ years of experience in manufacturing.
3. Strong knowledge of manufacturing processes.
4. Computer skills including CAD/CAM operations.
5. Good mechanical, analytical, and technical skills.
6. Good administrative, interpersonal and communication skills.
7. Ability to work as an individual contributor or team player.
8. Ability to lead a team and coordinate resources to meet process improvement goals.
9. Ability to view problems as they relate to the total organization.
10. Thorough working knowledge of plant engineering, industrial engineering, and tooling.
11. Strong oral, written and interpersonal communication skills
