Mechanical Engineer 2 Job Requirements:
Provides Mechanical Engineering support for design, analysis, testing, and manufacturing of ruggedized radar and communication systems. Designs electronics packaging, cooling systems, cable assemblies, test fixtures, and other custom parts and assemblies using 3D CAD software. Performs thermal and structural analysis of designs using analytical and computational methods. Creates drawings, bill of materials, written procedures, technical reports, and other design documentation. Performs testing to verify designs meet requirements. Assists senior/lead engineers in project execution. Assists in the setup, maintenance, and troubleshooting of equipment such as temperature, altitude, and humidity chambers and electrodynamic shaker systems. Provides technical support to the quality assurance department. Exhibits sound engineering judgment, as well as superior work ethic. A high degree of creativity and attention to detail is required. Performs a variety of tasks. Works under the supervision of a lead Mechanical Engineer. The duties listed above are intended only as a general illustration of the various types of work that may be performed. Other duties may be assigned by management.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:Education: Bachelor's Degree from an accredited college or university in Mechanical Engineering.Experience: Two to four (2-4) years of mechanical design using 3D CAD software.Abilities, Knowledge, and Skills: High level of verbal and written communications skills. Firm grasp of fundamentals of solid mechanics, fluid mechanics, and heat transfer. Proficiency with 3D CAD software such as SolidWorks, Siemens NX, and CATIA. Familiarity with structural and fluid dynamics simulation software such as SolidWorks Simulation, SolidWorks Flow, STAR-CCM+, and Ansys. Competency in the preparation of engineering drawings in accordance with ASME standards. Proficiency with the Microsoft Office Professional Suite. Will be subject to a government security investigation and must meet eligibility requirements for access to classified information.DESIRABLE QUALIFICATIONS:Master's degree from an accredited college or university in Mechanical Engineering. Experience designing ruggedized packaging for complex electronics used on ground, ship, and/or airborne platforms. Proficiency with structural and fluid dynamics simulation software.
Knowledge of design for manufacturing for a wide variety of materials and manufacturing methods. Experience with geometric dimensioning and tolerancing.
